The Palace Day Nursery
2 Windsor Street
Children attending The Palace Day Nursery will experience a variety of healthy balanced and nutritious foods. Our nursery is committed to delivering quality, balanced meals and snacks to all the children who attend and will continue to set the standard for food excellence and promote being healthy.
The quality of foods served at the Palace is such that we believe it will give them all of the energy they need for a busy day of play, learning and development. Menus are carefully planned and freshly prepared on site by our chef. Menus are displayed in our nursery and on our website.
A typical day at The Palace Day Nursery starts off with breakfast followed by a mid morning snack . A healthy two course lunch follows around mid day:
•Each lunch includes a main course and a dessert.
•Three different starchy foods are provided each week.
•A serving of fruit and vegetables is provided at lunch every day.
•Each week offers a variety of protein foods (meat, fish, meat alternative, eggs or pulses).
•A portion of oily fish is provided for lunch at least once during the 3-week menu cycle.
•Milk puddings or sauces made from milk or cheese are provided regularly, to supply calcium and protein.
•A vegetarian choice is always on offer and all children eat one non-meat meal each week.
•Dishes are home cooked without added salt.
•Tea time is around 4pm where the children experience another meal.
The Palace Day Nursery makes every effort to make meal times fun and an opportunity to learn. Meals are served family style, so that children can experience the social aspects of meal times, setting the table, talking about the foods they are about to eat and then clearing away after themselves.
